Final year Bachelor’s students and all Master’s students from all universities are allowed to apply. Please note that we cannot accept your application if you are a Bachelor’s student and not yet in your final year, an MBA student or a PhD student or if you already graduated.
The participation fee for the Business Game St.Gallen 2018 is 180 CHF. If you don’t require accommodation or select student housing (hosted by University students based in St.Gallen) as preferred type of accommodation, the participation fee will be 80 CHF. However, the BGSG does not guarantee that all preferences can be met. Depending on the available capacity and demand, the BGSG reserves the right to reallocate participants. Catering during the days of the event is provided by the Business Game St.Gallen. We will ask you to pay the participation fee for both team members as a whole.
During the selection test and the Business Game itself, you will work in teams and groups. However, you can do your initial registration alone and seek a team partner afterwards. After your initial registration, you will find a list of applicants who are also seeking a partner.
Due to the set-up of the Business Game St.Gallen, the number of participants is limited to 100. Rather than having an unfair first-come-first-serve system, we want to have the brightest minds among the applicants to participate – that’s why there is a short selection test.
You and your partner will have to do the test online. It will take 90 minutes. The content of the selection test can be found here. You don’t necessarily need to prepare yourself for the test, but you can.
The selection test will take place from 08 – 16 March 2018. Don’t forget you have to be teamed-up online in order to be able to start the test.
No, only one person per team (of two) has to submit the completed test. Communicating with your partner via Skype or a similar program will be enough.
No, that is not possible.
The event will take place from 26 – 28 April 2018.
The on-site registration begins soon after 12 PM on Thursday; therefore, you should plan your travel so that you arrive in St. Gallen by no later than noon. If you are flying in, be sure to build some extra time into your plans for possible delays.
The event takes place partly at the University of St.Gallen and partly at the Einstein Congress in St.Gallen, Switzerland.
The event will be held in English.
The dress code is ‘Business’.
Every case will be introduced beforehand. However, we do encourage you to read about the different topics and the different companies (they are the ones that will provide you with the cases, which will be related to their business) some days before the event.
In general, you participate the Business Game St.Gallen as a pair. Every challenge will be solved in teams of four, i.e. two pairs per team. After every challenge, the pairs will be mixed. Hence, you will always work with the same partner, but not always in the same team. The teams are mixed randomly.
Yes, every team will work on the challenges, and every team will present its four solutions in front of a jury. After the presentation and evaluation of the results, the overall best four pairs will compete amongst each another in the Eloquence Final.
Yes, the whole event is wheelchair accessible.
The Einstein Congress has more than 240 parking lots. Parking lots cost CHF 2.- per hour or CHF 30.- per day. There is also the possibility to park in the ‘Blue Zone’ which requires you buy a parking card (on a per day basis, 8 CHF / day) in advance. Please find more information on the Einstein Congress Website.
The event location lies very central in the heart of St.Gallen. St.Gallen is a quite small city with approx. 75’000 inhabitants. Most of the important locations (main station, Einstein, abbey district) are in walking distance of each other.
